Eyelid Surgery

Get rid of drooping eyelids and revitalize your appearance

Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is a procedure that addresses the signs of aging that affect the eyes. Whether you’re dissatisfied with the shape or appearance of your eyes, or have noticed changes as a result of the natural aging process, Dr. Kitto can improve the appearance of your upper and/or lower eyelids.

Blepharoplasty is for patients who are bothered by drooping eyelid skin, bags under the eyes, and fat deposits that cause them to appear older than their age. Candidates for this surgery should be in good physical condition and don’t have serious eye problems.

We apply local anesthesia prior to the surgery. Patients may choose to have this procedure on either their upper or lower eyelids, or both. Dr. Kitto will make an incision along the natural crease of the eyelids to remove excess skin and fat deposits, making the eye look younger and refreshed.

Blepharoplasty generally requires a week or so to heal. Common side effects may include bruising, irritation, swelling, and in some cases dry eyes. The side effects are usually mild and temporary, and can be treated with over-the-counter pain medications and ointments.
