Get rid of drooping eyelids and revitalize your appearance
Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is a procedure that addresses the signs of aging that affect the eyes. Whether you’re dissatisfied with the shape or appearance of your eyes, or have noticed changes as a result of the natural aging process, Dr. Kitto can improve the appearance of your upper and/or lower eyelids. Thanks to her specialized fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery, Dr. Kitto is able to use a modified technique in men which provides for more natural results.
Blepharoplasty is for patients who are bothered by drooping eyelid skin, bags under the eyes, and fat deposits that cause them to appear older than their age. Candidates for this surgery should be in good physical condition and don’t have serious eye problems.
We apply local anesthesia prior to the surgery. Patients may choose to have this procedure on either their upper or lower eyelids, or both. Dr. Kitto will make an incision along the natural crease of the eyelids to remove excess skin and fat deposits, making the eye look younger and refreshed.
Blepharoplasty generally requires a week or so to heal. Common side effects may include bruising, irritation, swelling, and in some cases dry eyes. The side effects are usually mild and temporary, and can be treated with over-the-counter pain medications and ointments.

This patient in his late 30s was unhappy with the heavy appearance of his upper eyelids. Eyelid surgery in male patients is significantly different than in female patients since removing too much skin or puffiness can lead to a very feminized look.
This patient underwent upper eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) and achieved a refreshed and yet a very natural look preserving his masculinity.
